Rooted in Service. Committed to Healing.
Leslie A. Lucero, LPCC, is a Licensed Professional Clinical Mental Health Counselor serving individuals and families across New Mexico. She is deeply committed to supporting those who serve others—first responders, veterans, and the loved ones who stand beside them.
Leslie earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Communication from the University of New Mexico in 2020, building a strong foundation in human behavior and effective interpersonal connection. She went on to complete her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2023, where she developed advanced clinical skills to support individuals facing trauma, stress-related disorders, and life transitions.
Her clinical work includes individual therapy, couples counseling, adolescent therapy, and group therapy. Leslie’s practice is especially focused on public safety personnel and military families. As the wife of a veteran and law enforcement officer, she understands firsthand the unique pressures, sacrifices, and emotional demands that accompany careers in law enforcement, firefighting, EMS, dispatch, and military service. This personal connection informs her work with authenticity, cultural competence, and deep respect for the communities she serves.
Leslie is trained in evidence-based, trauma-focused modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), the Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories Protocol (RTM), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). These approaches allow her to help clients process traumatic experiences, reduce distressing symptoms, and build sustainable coping strategies.
Her therapeutic style is grounded in empathy, clear communication, and ethical, client-centered care. Leslie believes that resilience is not about suppressing pain, but about developing the tools and support needed to move forward with strength and purpose. Her goal is to empower first responders, veterans, and their families to navigate the psychological impacts of service while enhancing overall well-being and quality of life.
